Twitter Tweak Enables Ether Tips, Day After Jack Dorsey Steps Down

Famed tech blogger Jane Machun Wong discovered a way to add Ethereum into Twitter’s Tipjar feature, which is now available. This is a significant development because Dorsey has repeatedly refused to invest in Ethereum, despite being a strong Bitcoin supporter.

Wong shared a screenshot of the modified feature and said that she appears to have done her “magic” to enable tipping in Ethereum. This is the second-most valuable cryptocurrency after Bitcoin.

She also added a wallet address so people can tip on it.

Crypto enthusiasts were excited by Wong’s technical skills. Some speculate that Dorsey’s departure could signal a pro-Ethereum strategy at the company.

The tweak feature isn’t expected to be available or visible for everyone at the moment, but advanced engineers can follow Wong and add Ethereum tips to the Tipp Jar feature by themselves.

Twitter is currently investigating the matter and will respond later, according to a report from Decrypt.

Twitter is taking steps to encourage crypto adoption through its platform, which is used daily by millions around the world.

It recently announced the creation of a tab that allows users to showcase their non-fungible (NFT), holdings on the platform.

On November 29, Dorsey, fifteen years after he founded Twitter, said good-bye to his CEO chair.

New York Times reports that the former Twitter chief plans to put his efforts into cryptocurrencies as well as philanthropy over the next few days.
